Behind the Beans: Why We’re Facing Coffee Delays

Why Coffee Prices Are Changing in 2025: Tariffs, Imports & What It Means for Your Cup

Why Coffee Prices Are Changing in 2025: Tariffs, Imports & What It Means for Your Cup

If you've noticed price shifts or temporary out-of-stocks on your favorite brews—you're not alone. As a small-batch coffee roaster, we want to share a bit of what's happening behind the scenes in the global coffee world this year.

🛃 What’s Changed in 2025?

In early 2025, the U.S. enacted new tariffs on a wide range of imported goods, including green coffee beans. These tariffs, ranging from 10% to over 30% depending on the origin and agreements in place, were designed to rebalance trade relationships—but they’ve had a big impact on importers and roasters alike.

🚢 Slower Supply Chains

In addition to tariffs, global shipping has been hit with:

  • Port delays and limited container availability

  • Increased freight costs

  • Tighter customs scrutiny

All of this means green coffee is taking longer (and costing more) to reach roasters—especially those sourcing from small farms or working through ethical supply chains.

☕ What It Means for Shade Raised Organic

We’re seeing:

  • Higher base costs for green beans

  • Limited availability from key regions (like Costa Rica)

  • More frequent stock disruptions

☕ How We're Responding

We’ve worked hard to absorb rising costs for as long as possible without passing them on to you. While we’ve held off, we will need to make small adjustments to keep quality and sustainability at the heart of what we do.  We promise to be transparent and thoughtful—always keeping your trust front and center.

❤️ Why Your Support Matters

We’re not a big warehouse operation—we’re a small, passionate team working directly with ethical importers. Every bag you buy helps us continue supporting small farms, protecting the planet, and roasting the freshest coffee we can.

Thanks for standing with us through these shifts. Your support truly keeps us brewing.
